The party people.


This page is a display of the affection I have for my parents-in-law, Miklos and Patricia Ditte.  

 

It is a glimpse into all they do for Butchers Daughter. They grow, pickle, smoke, preserve, dehydrate and bake. They are talented cooks, experienced entertainers and the dearest of friends.

 

Suitably named Old Bar Board of Directors, as they deserve a title for stuffing my heart full of love. They are my endless supply of guidance.

 

Miklos, like his son, is a beautiful grower of Australian native flowers and foliages, mainly king and pink ice proteas.  He built greenhouses and gardens where he grows fruits and vegetables.

 

Patricia has written the most wonderful cookbook which took her five years (2018-2023) and was edited by her great friend Jelena. Each recipe has been taste tested by the family or with friends. The book is a collection of family and friend recipes (467 in total) created by daughter Kim, my husband Michael, their Nagymama, Jelena, Miklos and her own. The book features dishes from their homelands Hungary and England and a load of recipes stemming from Sydney eateries we have gathered in as the Ditte’s.

 

Each visit to Old Bar we eat and drink, forage and fish, and make memories with our insightful conversations and cook offs.
